NEW FOR 2009:
- New 1.6-litre engine with improved fuel economy
- New front-end styling
- Refreshed interior styling
- Trim lines reduced to base model
For 2009, the Suzuki Swift+ receives a new 1.6-litre engine; although displacement does not change, power increases slightly, but more importantly, fuel economy becomes noticeably better. Interior and exterior styling is updated, but while the Swift+ previously came in two trim lines, it is now available only in Base, with optional air conditioning.
Available solely as a hatchback, the Swift+ is built by GM-DAT in South Korea, and is a sister car to the Chevrolet Aveo and Pontiac G3 Wave. Its 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine comes with a five-speed manual transmission or optional four-speed automatic.
Features include 14-inch steel wheels, CD/MP3 stereo with auxiliary input, tilt wheel, cargo area light, front centre floor console, front and rear floor mats, vanity mirrors, height-adjustable driver's seat, 60/40 split-folding rear seat, engine block heater, manual mirrors, variable intermittent wipers, and rear washer/wiper.
The manual transmission model can be ordered without air conditioning, but adding the optional automatic transmission also adds a/c.
Surprisingly peppy and quiet for its segment, the Swift+ is a very basic vehicle, especially now that the higher-end S model is gone, which had added such items as power windows and locks, heated mirrors, and cruise control. Front seat side airbags are standard, but anti-lock brakes and curtain airbags are not available.
